Talking to Business Recorder here, PPPP Spokesman Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the party, along with other like-minded groups would raise the issue on the floor of the Senate.
The Senator has also filed a calling attention notice with the Senate Secretariat in this context.
Farhatullah Babar called for ERRA under a civilian set-up and its working to be monitored by a parliamentary committee. "For ensuring transparency, its working should be overseen by the Parliament or its representative body," he contended.
Combined opposition in the National Assembly has also called for its working under a committee, formed by the National Assembly and the Senate with equal representation from the government and the opposition members.
However, there has been no response to this from the treasury side, as some ministers continue to attend the House proceedings.
Referring to the notification issued on Monday, the Senator pointed out that the notification had indemnified the ERRA officials against any lawsuit, prosecution or legal proceedings. The PPPP spokesman questioned the logic behind this indemnity, 'whereas the rulers kept on boasting across-the-board accountability and the nation saw how it is being conducted'.
The Senator said his party was opposed to adoption of any other procedure to run the affairs of the authority, cautioning this will lead to institutionalised corruption.
"This is unacceptable to the people of Pakistan, as already our country is 15th from the bottom of the list of the most corrupt nations," he contended.
Farhatullah Babar said the gigantic rehabilitation process would be undermined in the absence of transparency and accountability, opening a new Pandora box. He emphasised the rulers must learn from the recent past experience vis-à-vis developments in Afghanistan.
